Edmonton Wedding Photography | Melissa + Devon

 Melissa and Devon were married on July 31, 2010 and booked me 18 months in advance!

From the first moments of meeting Melissa, I knew this would be a super-fun wedding. She is such a bubbly person and always has a huge smile on her face. Every time she talked about, "THE WEDDING", her eyes lit up and she could not wait to be Devon's wife :)

The ceremony & reception took place at the Redtail Landing Golf Course and it is a gorgeous venue. The chairs were covered in white silk at the ceremony and the aisle had gorgeous ivory rose petals left behind by the flowers girls. Melissa walked down the aisle with father and her smile got even bigger as she got closer to Devon.

After the family formals at the golf course, we drove to the Devonian Gardens for our photography shoot. The Japanese garden was 'fully booked', but we snuck in anyways :) Yes, we are rebels! We had an amazing time, but the real heart of this wedding party was captured on the grounds of a farmer's field on the way back to the reception. I always wanted to shoot country barn images, but never had enough time to make the drive. This place was conveniently located on the way back so we made a 'stop'. Sometimes the best places to shoot are the spontaneous ones. A kitty joined us and wanted to be in ALL the photographs, especially the ones involving the girls.

One of Melissa’s absolute favourite shots took place here. It involved a barn, an old blue truck and a kiss.

The reception was incredible. The wedding party outdid themselves. There was an amazing slideshow and a really neat "interview montage" of Melissa and Devon that made everyone laugh. Shortly after dinner, the newlyweds cut the wedding cake, which initiated the start of the speeches. Once the music began, so did the first dance. Everyone watched them while cheering on and taking a few shots themselves. After that, everyone was on the dance floor enjoying the party.
